Criticism

ANOUCHKA is really a remarkable artist: after taking a Prep’Art course to master the technique, this graphic designer/layout artist paints, as might a great symbolist, intimate creations in small quadrilateral or diamond-shaped formats. There we discover strange and fascinating linear compositions on misty backgrounds. Simple visual effects, minimal but ever so efficient, prevail, and are highlighted with two or three touches of colour or an expressive monochrome. From this decorative creation emerge slim and pretty feminine silhouettes whose often dreamy allures are elegantly emphasized in an effervescent decor that in turn unleashes an eroticism that is sublimed with symbols, bodies, and flowers. The lustful interlacing is born of an innate grace that, carried by a fertile imagination, overturns the rigid frame of the support. This suggestion of alliance between beings, flowers and animals is mastered in ANOUCHKA’s paintings and Indian inks in ensembles of vitality, imperial cats and dreamy landscapes that reveal secret perspectives and formidable softness.
