Born on February 12th 1934 in Saint-Lô, Manche, he studied at the Institut d’Avranche, Manche and at the “Beaux Arts of Rennes, Brittany.

1997
Published “Mes Déchirures”, a collection of poems and travel sketches.
1989
Awarded the “Palmes Académiques”, a prestigious award for excellence in education in France, and “Arts et Lettres”, a literary achievement prize.
1987
Published “A Mots Couverts”, a collection of poems and drawings
1985
Created the “Foire aux Croûtes” in Saint-Lô in collaboration with Rotary Club and President Jean-Louis Potier. The term “croûte” in French refers to poor quality paintings and was there used ironically.
1970-
1993
Created the “Atelier d’art de la Poulinière”, an art school in Saint-Lô.
1964
Created the “Beaux-Arts” department at the Institut Saint-lô.
1959 Appointed visual arts teacher at Institut Saint-Lô.
 
PAINTER
Michel CLOS has been exhibiting since 1960 and his favourite themes are women, public spectacles and their inner workings, circuses, gardens, nature, water and markets.
His trips abroad were the cause of theme exhibitions about the Balearic Islands (his mother was from Majorca), Sicily, Crete, Ciprus, Marocco, Senegal, the Malagasy Republic, Thailand, Mexico, Guatemala, India, Indonesia, Vietnam, the West Indies and Venice.

Since 1974 :
Annual exhibition with completely new works. The theme is always Saint-Lô in mid-December. The 2004 edition featured Venice, Morocco and Vietnam with a little symphony of blue watercolours.
