Now here is an artist passionate about the Visual Arts! In fact, except for acrylics and watercolours, Marie-Ange Gomard-Baijot brilliantly uses all the technical resources that drawing and painting present, and her sense of values encourages and attracts her to render in three dimensions that which can only confer her art particular energy. As an animal-painter, Marie-Ange Gomard-Baijot displays surprising assurance, both in the exactness of her postures and in the balance in her compositions. In hunting and riding scenes, she demonstrates both love and sensitiveness while sustaining interest through atmospheres that she is able to identify and encapsulate in either an airy red chalk drawing or a more brilliantly expressive painting. The eminently classical sources and fascinating realism are further enhanced by a rare elegance and the movements of the never wrong-footed artist. And so Marie-Ange Gomard-Baijot is capable of sustaining a tasteful tradition that finds its fulfillment not only in the artist’s treatment of still-lifes that are of an enviable quality, but more importantly in the remarkably way in which she conceives superb nudes in poses that point to a great deal of productive research. Simultaneously, the artist’s touch and brush-stroke stunningly compose a charming ode full of beauty and confidence, and this is the enviable fruit of her work and talent in dealing with themes that are difficult yet nevertheless incomparably captivating.
