Figurative painter Nicole Fège has always been passionate about art, and had the chance to follow classes at the Ecole du Louvre from the age of fifteen. It was in this crucible that she experienced her first great emotions as an artist, and threw herself into painting; a passion that has never left her. A determined self-taught artist, the classes she followed allowed her to master the pictorial techniques, especially those of oil and watercolour painting, the latter remaining her medium of predilection. Now living in Boulogne-Billancourt in the region of Paris, the artist is hardworking and consistently sets herself new challenges. For several years, she has regularly exhibited in Paris and elsewhere in France, particularly at the Salon des Artistes Indépendants in Normandy.
Whether painting figures in motion, landscapes (especially seascapes, of which she is particularly fond) or still-lifes, the composition is always well-structured and balanced. Her confident drawing allows her to accurately capture lines, perspectives and movement. The artist delicately blends pigments on wet paper, and her perfectly mastered watercolour brushstrokes are flowing, vivid, and precise all at once. With a bright and harmonious palette of colours, Nicole Fège superbly manages to play with light effects and transparencies.
In a contemporary style that is very personal to her, Nicole Fège skilfully and unquestionably renews the charm of watercolours, creating artworks that are lively, elegant and steeped in poetry.
